I can’t believe it’s been over a year and a half since I posted a blog. I don’t think I intentionally did this but in reflection, I didn’t make blogging my focus. Don’t get me wrong, life has happened and grief, as it always does, ebbs and flows much like these oscillating waves I am watching today. My emotions have vacillated between joy and anguish and laughter and pain. Then there are times when I feel good and know that everything will be ok. If you have experienced any loss, I’m sure you can relate. As my family and I have sought respite at the beach, I was reminded to blog.

To be clear, I haven’t stopped writing. I’ve been busy. Last year,  I founded and recently launched a nonprofit, Mes Papillons Foundation, to honor my daughters Amira and Kelyn who passed away due to a rare disease called Niemann Pick C. In writing the content for the website, I discovered that I had never really shared my girls’ stories in such detail until that point and had a moment. (Head over to mespapillons.org and support our cause!) I realized that through writing, their stories live on. This is why writing and storytelling is important. When we are able to encapsulate our stories in text, we impact generations to come.

I have also had some academic pieces published, continued to post inspiration almost daily on social media (IG: @dr.francemisekingsberry), and written a few unpublished poems but for some reason, I stopped blogging here.  I guess you can say IG became my "blog." Maybe it was the shame of starting something and not continuing it or the unwillingness to start again.  This Easter weekend as many commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, however, I am resurrecting this blog. What about you? Are you a writer who needs to write more? Are there some things (i.e., dreams, talents, gifts, etc.) that are lying dormant in your life? Whatever it is, I encourage you to try again. I hope that I won’t let the fear of stopping again keep me from posting. Instead, may I be inspired to share insight here. 'Til next time...

P.S. Don't forget to subscribe, comment, and share this blog with someone else.
